The DALI IO-6 wireless over-ear headphones celebrated their world premiere at IFA 2019 in Berlin and, together with their sister model IO-4, are the first hi-fi headphones in DALI's 35-year history.

The IO-6 can be controlled via Bluetooth® 5.0 via smartphones, tablets, PCs or TVs and also supports the high-resolution codecs aptX® HD and AAC. The latter is required for optimum sound quality in conjunction with all Apple devices.

Drivers with 50 mm paper fibre diaphragms and optimized neodymium magnet systems guarantee the typical DALI sound with low distortion, minimal colouration and pronounced fine dynamics.

The most important functions of the IO headphones are controlled via three operating elements: the DALI logo on the right ear cup acts as a multifunction button for play, pause, skip forward/backward, answer and hang up calls, and the volume is adjusted by lightly pressing the upper or lower part of the ring surrounding the logo. Clear Voice Communication (CVC) ensures optimum voice quality for calls made via the headphones' hands-free system, while the soft cushions completely enclose the ears and effectively block out ambient noise.

The battery life of the IO-6 is up to a record-breaking 30 hours. Of course, the headphones can also be used without battery support using the cable supplied.

As a manufacturer of loudspeakers, DALI is fully aware of the importance of a high performance driver. It was a great surprise to DALI that in the headphone industry, drivers are often seen as standard cheap components without any real technical attention being paid to them.

The DALI IO-6 headphones use a high-quality custom driver with a large 50mm diaphragm and an optimized neodymium magnet system to achieve low distortion, minimal coloration and accurate dynamics across the entire frequency range.

The large diameter driver ensures linear operation with minimal compression. This, combined with the well-controlled breakup of the paper fiber cone, means that even the smallest musical details are crystal clear. This also means that the sound does not become tiring even after hours of listening.
Wearing comfort & design

The stylish DALI IO-6 headphones are ergonomically designed to sit comfortably and securely on any head. The ear pads are made of a memory foam that adapts naturally to the head and not only holds the headphones perfectly in position, but also seals them acoustically from the outside world to create consistent acoustic conditions.

During the development of the DALI IO-6, the lowest possible weight was in the specification, so that the headphones can be worn over a longer period of time without any problems. Each individual component was carefully selected for its weight without compromising on quality or durability.

The headphones are protected against dust and splash water in accordance with IP53 certification to ensure that they can cope with all the challenges of mobile life as well as being used at home on the sofa. And as the ear cups can be rotated 90 degrees in both directions, the headphones can be folded flat and stowed away compactly or hung comfortably around the neck.

Long battery life:
Listening to music for days without recharging - the DALI development engineers also had this requirement in mind when working on the headphones. A powerful 1100 mAh lithium-ion battery enables the IO-6 to run for up to 30 hours. You won't find better endurance anywhere else on the headphone market at the moment. Such a long battery life guarantees the freedom of not having to worry about running out of power.

So that you always know what power reserves the battery still has, the IO-6 reports the current charge status of the battery with a voice message every time it is switched on. The battery status is also visually indicated by two multi-colored LEDs on the right ear cup.

And even if there is no more power available, the passive mode of the IO-6 keeps the music alive. Simply connect the headphones to your audio device using the supplied mini-jack cable and leave the DALI IO-6 in "Off" mode.

The IO's large, class-leading custom 50 mm paper fiber driver produces the most natural, transparent and authentic DALI sound - with low distortion and coloration - reproducing music exactly as the artist intended.

Battery life (30 hours):
The IO-6 offers an incredible 30 hours of premium battery life, allowing you to work for weeks without recharging. And should you run out of power, the IO-6 will remain in passive "off" mode if you use the included mini-jack cable. Or charge the battery to 100% in 2 hours via a standard USB-C port.

Comfort and durability:
The DALI IO ear pads are made of memory foam that molds to the head to ensure maximum comfort and fit and provide the best possible seal. The cushions are covered in soft synthetic leather, designed for comfort and durability and tested to withstand the demands of everyday use.

Connectivity:
For high wireless audio performance, the DALI IO supports Bluetooth AptX, AptX HD and Apple AAC. For the highest possible quality, DALI IO offers a USB-C port that supports digital audio streaming from Windows or Mac. The IO also has a conventional wired analog mini jack.

Hands-free calls and voice assistant:
With the integrated microphones in the IO headphones, you can also use the headphones for hands-free calls and voice control.
